It's a lazy saturday. Yesterday afternoon I went to the office, so I did not feel that the week end had started. Today, I forced myself to stay at home, cleaning and cooking and thinking about my family and friends. Relaxing, that's what week ends are supposed to be for. If you were here with me, I'd tell you some stories...
The sweatshirt I am wearing right now, is oversize. The reason why? It is not mine. When I was in Brazil, I gave hospitality to a blond girl who was coming from Holland. Her name was Chris. She happened to be there during the summer and she was invited for my birthday's party. As I was really suffering the cold weather of Minas Gerais, she gave me as a gift her sweatshirt, something that she really loved, because she brought it with her in her journeys in Australia and Latin America. I brought it back to Italy and then to Egypt with me and still love wearing it because it has been one of the gifts that I appreciated more...

I met Veronica 5 years ago, at a course on microcredit (of course!). We immediatle got along very well together. We both dreamt about working with NGOs in developing countries. We both made our dream come true. She now is in Banda Acheh, Indonesia, and she sent me a very nice email from there. She seems to enjoy being there after spending too many months in Italy, golden prison for people like us. She also sent me the link for her blog, nice idea indeed, I love it. It is dedicated to the people she loves. I am very honoured to be part of them.

Living abroad has its gloomy side. I have lost my old friends, who think that my lifestyle is too far from theirs. On my side I definitely realize that I have changed a lot, and that I will never be the same. When I used to go back, I felt a huge gap, difficult to fill. We simply did not communicate at all. I still dream about them.
