I came back from Italy yesterday. I went to Rome to participate as a speaker for the Italian cooperation at the International Conference Women and Microfinance: A New Path for Development in Mediterranean Countries? organized by Fondazione Risorsa Donna. Then I moved to Torino to present my case studies on microfinance in Egypt at the University and then moved home, just for a couple of days (from Torino by train it takes 6 hours and a half!). I didn't have much time but at least I spent a couple of days with my wonderful family.
It was cold in Italy. I was shocked by the clean streets, the shining windows of the shops, the people, who looked so familiar. Of course there are many small things that I miss from Italy when I am in Cairo. There, I always know where to find things I need or I simply like. Here I am a foreigner and sometimes it takes days just to fined something that is similar to what I am looking for. But I am happy to be back here, cause this is where my home is now.
