Last Wednesday I went to Qena (pronouced Ena) with a couple of people from the UNIDO office in Cairo: the head, Andrea and Martina (whom I have to thank for the pictures you see in today's post). I was representing the Italian Embassy at the opening of a training for small entrepreneurs of the Governorate, which is located in Upper Egypt, not far from Luxor. Entrepreneurs there need to be trained on marketing and on how to improve their production (most of all cement and marble but also sugar and sweets), face competition and (in sha'allah) be able to reach other markets, also abroad.
I really loved this experience...included the flight, where we were surrounded by Mexicans. And I have to admit that Qena is very nice, clean, neat and tidy. I had a surprisingly good impression of the place.
